Fardin Masoumi is a notable name among the successful Iranian wrestling champions over the last decade. ?? ????? ???: ?????? 15 ?????? ??????? ???? ?? ?? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??????? ?? ??? 70 ????? ??????? ??? ??????? ????? ???.Up to now Masoumi has scored 15 gold medals from Asian and international competitions. The most important one was the Russian Stars Championship Cup at 70 kg weight.
In Iran, wrestling is a one of the historical and traditional sports. Wrestling is usually called Koshti in Persian and has different styles which came from its customs since the ancient times in the greater Iran.Wrestling is deeply associated with moral values and wrestlers are referred to as ‘Pahlavan.’ Traditionally, a Pahlavan is a person who lends a helping hand to his fellow human beings.

His father was a member of Talesh Chuky wrestler Club. His father and brothers were champions of Rasht traditional wrestling called Koshti Gillemardy, which has its own style and rules in the north of the country.
He had seen many wrestling matches during his childhood, especially his father’s. So he got interested in that kind of sport at an early age.
One day Masoumi, the young wrestler, was in a traditional Gillemardy competition in the Azodi sports complex in Rasht. The President of Iran Amateur Wrestling Federation, Mohammad Reza Taleghani was sitting among the spectators. When the match ended Taleghani suggested to Masoumi that he follow freestyle wrestling, considering his style and technique.
Masoumi accepted the suggestion and entered the freestyle world in 1994.
In 2007 Masoumi was introduced as a champion of the country and received an honorary medal. The Fars News Agency quoted Gilan Province’s dean of physical education Friday saying that another medal will be awarded to him by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the near future.??? ??? ????? ???: ????? ?????? ?? 14 ???? ??????? ???? ????? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??????? ???? ?? ???? ? ?? ????? ?????? ??? 86 ???? ????? ??
In 2009 World Cup Wrestling Championship held in Denmark, Masoumi defeated wrestlers from Canada, United States, Georgia and Turkey, and made it to the finals. Masoumi lost to Bilal Makhuf from Russia and managed to bag a silver medal.
Presently he is practicing hard to keep fit for London 2012 Olympic with gold on his mind.
After these years, Masoumi is very glad now to be a freestyle wrestler and won’t change it with any thing. He believes the Iranian nation love their wrestlers and the traditions.
Masoumi has been married for nine years and has two children, a six-year- old son and an eight- year- old daughter.
Masoumi has good public relations and is also interested in politics. In an interview with Jam-e Jam newspaper Masoumi said he intends to enter the world of politics in the near future.
Among the wrestler champions who have entered to the politics the most famous among them are the two brothers Amirreza and Rasul Khadem, Alireza Dabir and Hadi Saee.
In order to start his career as a politician he is going to register for City Council of Rasht candidacy this Iranian year (ending March 21, 2010). He is confident that he will be successful because he believes that his fellow townspeople love him.
